Annapolis Maryland, lingerie boutique, boudoir marathon, don’t miss it!

Hi there everyone!  Exciting news: I’ve teamed up with à la mode  lingerie boutique to shoot three days of mini boudoir sessions in their Annapolis store on West St.  This is a great opportunity to experience boudoir first hand!  For only $179 ( a $395 value) you get a 30 minute mini photo shoot  in à la mode’s upstairs studio and a free 5×7 print. You may also purchase additional photos from your shoot during your proofing session.  

 

It’s all taking place the weekend of April 16th, 17th and 18th during Annapolis in Love, the inaugural citywide event is designed to highlight the romance of the destination in spring. Featuring cruises, contests, concerts, and packages,  Annapolis in Love will celebrate being in love, looking for love, and loving life – all in an effort to demonstrate that Annapolis is the most romantic city in America. Street names will be changed to romantic names like Lover’s Lane, the Harbor Queen will become the Love Queen, water taxis will be transformed into gondolas, and romantic events and specials will be offered by participating hotels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, and merchants.  (To find out more visit  Annapolis in Love .)

 

The shoots will be a lot of fun with a complementary  wine, cheese and crackers.  There will be a makeup artist on staff to help you look your very best, and of course you can find the perfect outfit for your shoot at à la mode!  Call the store at 410-280-9771, ext. 201  for more details and to schedule your session!  Hurry, at these prices sessions will fill up quickly.  If you can’t make it to Annapolis that weekend, you can always schedule an appointment with me at another time here at the studio.

Pin-up style boudoir shoot ideas

For a long time I have wanted to try a bit of boudoir, pin-up style photography that is all the rage lately.  I had been eyeing a local retro diner in my area as a backdrop for my shoot. It was perfect but I had my doubts as to whether they would allow me to do a photo shoot in their dining room during business hours.  I thought I would ask anyway, all they could do was tell me no.  I approached the manager and talked to him about two weeks before the actual shoot. He didn’t know what to make of me and my idea at first but after a bit of explaining he agreed to let us do it.  ;-)

On the day of the shoot we arrived around 1pm so the lunch crowd was thinning out.  I used a small off camera soft box, with a SB900 flash  attached to a mono pod.  My good friend Kim helped me with the lighting.  The customers joined in on the fun, giving us ideas and clapping.  Some of them asked for business cards and shook our hands before they left. I think they enjoyed the lunch time show.

The model is Josie whom I found on Model Mayhem. She lives in Waldorf Maryland and this girl has more costumes / clothes than you can imagine! She actually sent me an online catalog of all her outfits!

If you love pin-up photography I suggest you look up some of my friend, Robert Alvarado’swork.  I am in awe of his talent. I had the pleasure of meeting him in Las Vegas at WPPI a few weeks ago and we spent some time chatting over drinks.  He is such a likable down to earth person, a real pleasure to be around.
